The Port of Oakland is planning an expansion of the Oakland Airport.
Communities all around Oakland are already facing disproportionately high rates of asthma, respiratory disease, chronic illness and environmental pollution. The expansion would only serve to pollute our communities further and exacerbate the climate crisis.
YVA’s Stop OAK campaign consists of youth voices advocating for awareness and an end to the Port of Oakland’s expansion plans for the OAK airport. We have and continue to fight for this mission through speaking at the Port Commission and City Council meetings and educating the community on what is taking place.
Our campaign aims to fight against this expansion and put the health and safety of our communities first.
